We think that a guide published and shared on how to deal with ailments and weight management is extremely important to introduce new ideas and help clients and patients. We also think that to achieve good results in time can realistically be enhanced by guided consultations by a qualified specialist. The simple and yet powerful idea is that we need to control our health by recognising what we can achieve from outside of ourselves to avoid costly mistakes and actually become competent at achieving our objective. To give you an example – continuous education is a lifelong passion of ours, but the learning curve is extremely steep when it comes to nutrition and its clinical application. This is due to two things:
- First: Science is a prerequisite, and pseudoscience is prevalent. The professional regulated practitioner is capable of cutting through all that and delivering the needed verdict and plan
- Second: Just like the pseudoscience mentioned above, there is another issue of fad diets that is just everywhere, which unfortunately has a serious physical and mental toll
Therefore, there is a limitation of how much you could really achieve by yourself, and here lies the source of taking control of what you could do on one hand, and allowing the dietitian to focus on what is outside of your area of knowledge.
Think of it as an apprenticeship, you cannot really achieve the best version of your chosen career in six months by yourself unless you are guided and mentored. The same is true when it comes to diet and nutrition, especially if you have an ailment such as Irritable Bowel Syndrome (IBS) or Diabetes. The path is considerably more straightforward without pre-existing conditions, yet it can get confusing.
